Solid gold
This is pure gold, meaning it's highly valuable and very durable. However, it's also more expensive.
Gold filled
Gold-filled consists of a substantial layer of 14-karat gold, at least 1/20 of the total weight. This makes it high-quality without the price of solid gold.
Gold plated
This is a layer of gold applied to another metal. It can wear out quickly and is less durable than gold-filled.
Vermeil
This is a form of gold plating, but with a sterling silver base and a thicker layer of gold. It offers better quality than standard gold plating, but is still less durable than gold-filled.
